77 year-old gentleman with blood in the urine

Is a retired 77 year-old gentleman from a metropolitan area who presented to his GP with blood in the urine (haematuria). On top of this he was getting up frequently at night to pass urine for many years and this had worsened prior to him noticing the blood.
His staging scans were negative. Ultimately he had surgery (cystectomy, lymph node dissection and formation of ileal conduit). His bladder cancer was just into the wall of the muscle and his lymph nodes were clear.
In consultation with his Medical Oncologist they decided not to pursue chemotherapy as treatment and he is under close observation.
Two years on he is playing golf and looking after his grandchildren. He even is able to sleep seven uninterrupted hours.
